"EARLY WRITING"
In this passage, we learn that writing began in the ancient culture of Sumer. The people of
Sumer needed a way to remember things. They wrote with pictures at first. Then they
invented a wedge-shaped form of writing called cuneiform. They wrote in cuneiform on clay
tablets with sharp reeds.
